The SIGMA 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art, Sony E Mount, is the world’s first full-frame zoom lens to feature a constant F1.8 aperture, offering sharpness and image quality similar to that of a prime lens. Having already set the standard for large-aperture zoom lenses with models like the SIGMA 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art and the SIGMA 24-35mm F2 DG HSM | Art, SIGMA now adds another fast, portable, and versatile lens to its Art series.
- Full Frame | f/1.8 to f/16
- Sony E/FE Mount
- Superfast Wide-to-Normal Zoom
- HLA Autofocus
- Minimum Focus Distance 30 cm
- Aperture Ring with Click & Lock Switches
- 11-blade rounded diaphragm
- SLD and Aspherical Elements
- Nano Porous & Super Multilayer Coatings
- Dust & Splash Resistant
Alongside its unmatched brightness, the SIGMA 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art maintains prime lens-level sharpness and clarity across the entire zoom range. With its fast, precise autofocus and excellent handling, this cutting-edge lens redefines the creative potential of zoom lenses. It’s a perfect choice for full-frame filmmakers and offers exceptional versatility to still photographers alike.
Faster focus with a linear motor
The lens features an advanced AF system powered by a High-response Linear Actuator (HLA), delivering rapid focusing speed combined with exceptional accuracy. Its near-silent operation makes it ideal for video recording without unwanted noise.
Precise and comfortable manual focusing
For smooth and precise manual focus control, the lens includes a bi-wire focus ring, optimized with ideal torque settings and adjustable rotation angles between 90° and 720°* for high-resolution control. This ensures film-makers can achieve smooth focus transitions, while photographers can enjoy highly accurate manual focusing.
Aperture ring refinements
The lens also includes an aperture ring, accompanied by both an aperture click switch and an aperture lock switch, providing flexible aperture control suited to different shooting environments.
Constant maximum aperture of F1.8
What was once exclusive to prime lenses, the constant F1.8 aperture now offers full-frame users the ability to shoot hand-held in low light and achieve stunning bokeh, all while enjoying the versatility of a zoom lens. This remarkable optical breakthrough is the result of SIGMA’s extensive design expertise and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques at their production facility in Aizu, Japan.
Practical and stable inner zoom
Thanks to its inner zoom design, the lens maintains a consistent length regardless of changes in focal length or focus distance. This makes it user-friendly for hand-held shooting, stable when mounted on a tripod or gimbal, and more resistant to dust and water intrusion.
Equipped with two AFL buttons
The lens features two customizable AFL buttons, conveniently placed on the side and top of the barrel for easy access during both horizontal and vertical shooting.
Built to withstand the elements
Designed for challenging environments, the lens is dust- and splash-resistant*, with a front element treated with a water- and oil-repellent coating. This ensures reliable performance even in harsh outdoor conditions.
Consistent close focus
The lens offers a constant minimum focusing distance of 30cm throughout the entire zoom range, with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the telephoto end, making it ideal for close-up photography. This allows for accurate focusing in tight spaces, and you can shoot close to your subject without sacrificing sharpness, even when zooming.
Premium build with lighter weight
Despite its fast aperture, the lens remains surprisingly lightweight at under 1kg, without compromising on strength or durability, which protects its advanced optical design. Additionally, it features a versatile 82mm filter size, ensuring portability and ease of use without any sacrifices.
The pinnacle of optical quality in a zoom
By incorporating 5 SLD elements and 3 aspherical elements, the lens effectively corrects various aberrations. Axial chromatic aberration, often prominent in large-aperture lenses, is meticulously minimized, ensuring sharp, clear images with minimal color fringing. The lens also produces smooth, large bokeh without sacrificing fine detail in focused areas.
Suppression of focus breathing
Unlike standard lenses where the angle of view shifts as focus changes, the SIGMA 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art minimizes focus breathing. This ensures consistent composition and natural focus pulls, making it ideal for video recording.
Minimal flare and ghosting
Flare and ghosting, which can degrade image quality, have been significantly reduced through advanced simulation technology. SIGMA's Nano Porous Coating and Super Multi-Layer Coating provide excellent resistance to backlighting, allowing for rich, high-contrast images in a variety of lighting conditions.
