A company with a long history:
The company (now called Victorinox) was founded in 1884, in German-speaking Ibach. From 1891 the company supplied knives to the Swiss Army. The famous logo, a cross in a shield, has been in use since 1909. In that year the mother of the founder Karl Elsener died and in honor of her he changed the name of the company in Victoria. When the stainless steel (French: acier stainless steel, often shortened to stainless steel) was introduced in 1921, the name of the company was changed again to Victorinox as we know it today.
