B+W Neutral Density Filters attenuate the light by 1, 2, 3, 6, or 10 f-stops. This is beneficial to achieve the correct exposure when the brightness of the subject is still too high for the fastest shutter speed and the smallest aperture, or for that "cotton candy" look to streams and waterfalls.

About Neutral Density Filter 2 f-stop

This B+W ND filter, which reduces the light by two f-stops, already shows a clear effect on your photographs such as requiring f/4 instead of f/8 for selective focus or 1/15 sec instead of 1/60 sec for a long exposure effect. The filter is color-neutral, and it should be part of any basic DSLR photography equipment kit.

Technology

With the thin-film technology developed here, not only the pure ND filter effect comes into play, but a coating combination optimizes the ND filter. In addition to the filter effect, the coating combination contains a multi-layer anti-reflective component with 7 layers per filter side to prevent annoying reflections. An outer layer with the usual dirt- and water-repellent properties is applied as the final layer. This not only provides all-around protection for the filter, but also makes it easy to clean and maintain the filter pane. The light attenuation itself is very uniform over the entire visible range and produces optimally color-neutral image results.

Tips & Tricks ND Filter

For beginners it can be a challenge to achieve optimal results with ND Filters at first. There are a few things to consider and often it is necessary to maintain perfect conditions over a longer period. With these tips, you’ll have everything you need to get fantastic shots right from the very beginning!

Use a stable tripod. Again, good equipment is 50% of success.
Work in Bulb mode "B" for long exposures.
Use the remote control of your camera app.
Do not rely on the automatic mode but set the exposure values manually.
Use low ISO values and choose a small aperture.
Use Live View for control.
Use the RAW file format to make post-processing easier.
Cover the camera’s viewfinder while taking the photo.
