Things to consider when using
A vinyl foundation consists of a strong vinyl material and weighs approximately twice as much as a background paper roll of the same dimensions. When hanging, wall/ceiling background hanging should be used in combination with lockable expanders to prevent the entire roll from being unrolled and detached from the core. If you want a portable suspension, the Manfrotto Autopole is a good choice if the tripod can be secured to the floor and ceiling. Another portable option is the Manfrotto Solo Heavy, which consists of heavy-duty studio stands in combination with a boom. Preferably secure the stands with sandbags and use glue clamps or super-clamps that lock the roll at the desired, unrolled length. When lighting a vinyl background, direct lighting of the background is recommended. Because the vinyl background is a little softer in structure than e.g. background paper, any unevenness in the way the vinyl background falls can be seen if the background is lit from the side (type trailing light) and that the background ends up in focus in the image.
