Photographing bottles against a black background and drinking glasses against a white background can be complicated - if you don't know how. This type of photography can be carried out on several different ways. We show you the tricks to get to a really neat and professional end result.
For these two shootings use HiLite background from Lastolite by Manfrotto with två Elinchrom studio flashes. The HiLite background works as a high beam light and has an even light over the entire diffuser surface. Despite its size, the HiLite takes up relatively little space and makes it possible to place the subject close to the background.
For photographing a dark bottle with a black background a black plate is placed behind the subject, which means that the background becomes black at the same time as the light from the sides of the HiLite will hit the edges of the bottle. A studio flash with a snootreflector is aimed at the label of the bottle and a white cardboard disc is used as an extra reflective screen.
The glass against a white background has HiLite as light source and background. To define the edges of the glass, place two black cardboard discs på each side of the glass.
