For online businesses, it's crucial to have a versatile lighting setup that suits various products. In E-commerce photography, products can differ significantly in terms of color, size, and glossiness. Let's explore the ultimate product photography lighting arrangement that offers both versatility and image quality to enhance your E-commerce studio's efficiency.
We aim for the utmost versatility in our lighting setup to ensure exceptional results for medium-sized products. Being able to use images directly from the camera with consistent quality can significantly impact your business, especially for high-volume product photography. With broncolor lighting equipment, there's no need for retouching, as power output and colors remain consistent from one shot to the next.
Whether you're photographing shoes, cosmetics, or perfumes, this lighting arrangement is a perfect fit.
Here's a detailed breakdown of how to set up your lights for product photography.
Start by covering a white table with a shiny white acrylic plate. This setup will create a reflective surface for the product. Place a similar acrylic plate vertically about 100cm behind the table. Backlight this plate with a 90x110 cm Softbox to ensure even and clean background illumination. In this example we have used an ELC 500 set to 5.9 (396 Ws).

This Octabox may seem slightly oversized, but its soft lighting helps reduce contrast in photos and works well for shiny, dark, and even white objects. Use aHere we have used an ELC 500 set to 4.3 (131 Ws).
To add dimensionality to the object, ensure that the lighting has a specific direction. Place a smaller Octabox 70 to the right (or left) of the object at an angle of approximately 35 degrees and at a distance of 90 cm from the object. For the Octabox we have used an ELC 500 set to 5.4 (280 Ws).
One small detail that can customize the light is the use of white or black cardboard on the opposite side of the Octabox 70. Use the white cardboard for dark and shiny objects, while the black one increases contrast for very bright or low-contrast objects.
This setup provides a versatile and effective way to achieve consistent and high-quality product photography lighting.
