Learn how to create selling product images. This guide shows you how to easily get clear and selling pictures of weapons. When selling used weapons online, it is important that the workflow is efficient, fast and able to be repeated day after day. The image quality directly from the camera must be of high quality so that no, or very little, post-processing of the image is required before publication on the web. This makes the whole photography process cost effective
The image above is photographed against a white background with Nikon D850 and 85 mm lens (f16, 1/125 second, ISO 100, White Balance 5500K). Lighted with Elinchrom D-Lite 4 (set to 4.5) and Softbox Rotalux 50x130 cm. No post-production of the image is needed apart from adjusting the size and sharpening for web publishing. A plexiglass cube is used to support the weapon
You can accomplish a lot with surprisingly little. A table top works well as a base and support rods or stands to hold the weapons and a plain white background.
• Camera - The most common camera brands Nikon, Canon or Sony work well. Feel free to ask us for advice before you buy a camera. Some models are better suited than others.
• Camera tripod - Is a must for keeping the camera steady and in the same position during each shooting.
• Software - Most commercial photography today is done by shooting with image storage directly into the computer, so-called Tether Shooting. Because the camera's viewfinder image can be viewed live on the computer, composition is simplified and sharpness can be examined in every detail. We recommend Smart Shooter 4 which is very flexible and reliable to use. It is also possible to photograph into a number of other programs on the market, such as Adobe Lightroom or Capture One.
Light is the most important part of photography, no matter what you are going to photograph. Even if you have limited photography skills, good lighting can hide many sins. With studio flash and softbox you will go a long way. Studio flash has a great advantage over fixed lights due to that there is no risk that other light will interfere with the photography.
