Peter Gunnars began his career as a photographer by being a photo assistant while he trained in marketing at Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm. Gradually the photography took over and Peter started working full-time as a freelancer with mainly the big car magazines as clients.
Over the years, Peter has developed a unique personal style through exceptional control over light and a constant ability to find new photo angles. Most of the time when Peter is working there is a battery operated Elinchrom studio flash with an HS lamp head by his side. The HS (High Sync) head is used by Peter in several ways. On the one hand, it gives him the opportunity to take control of the daylight, by choosing fast shutter speeds, and thus letting the light from the studio flash act as the main light. In addition, Peter uses the long exposure time of the HS head to create motion blur in the image (if the exposure time is too fast on the flash, the spokes of the wheels will be rendered sharply and the viewer of the image will think that the car is standing still).
Peter Gunnar's pictures have, among other things, published in Auto Motor & Sport, Classic Bike, GRANTURISMO MAGAZINE, CLASSIC BIKE, Classic Motor, MCM, AUTO MOTOR & SPORT SWEDEN, AHA-Magazine, Rodders Journal, VW transportmagazine Sweden
