Tips & Tricks - Avoid footprints on the background

When taking full-frame photos where the subject is standing on the paper, cut a piece of the paper from the roll so that it is over the front area where they will be standing. Be sure to tape it down so that the motif does not slide. The joint will not be noticeable if you use backlighting to brighten the white. This helps to avoid shoe marks on the white paper. When that piece gets dirty, you can flip it over or cut another small piece. A more permanent solution is to use a large matt Plexiglas panel. If you can, take full-figures separately from face portraits and half-figures and wait to drag the background down to the floor until you need it for full-figure so you don't waste paper or get more footprint than you want.

Instead of raising each side of the background stand step by step, the Solo system allows you to adjust the height in larger steps without it becoming wobbly. The stands included in the set have a working height between 99-282 cm, boom extension 116-298 cm. Each kit comes in a handy carry case which fits easily into a car. The Solo Support Bracket is also available on it’s own for use with most industry standard background support systems.

For fabric or background paper rolls

The Solo background set is equally suitable for fabric backgrounds as for background paper rolls with a width of max 2.75 cm and length of 11 m. Since the boom is extendable, the set can quickly be adjusted to the width of the background. For increased stability and safety, we recommend that both stands are equipped with sandbags at the bottom as a counterweight (see accessory list). For heavier backgrounds such as vinyl rolls and paper 2.72x25m, we recommend wall/ceiling holders or a heavier background set.
