Blue screen is a film technique that involves filming two clips, one of which is filmed in front of a blue screen (hence the name) and then the blue is cut off and replaced with the other film clip. The technology is widely used in science fiction and action movies. Another use is meteorology, when the weather is shown on TV. Green screen is a variant with a green screen instead of a blue one, which is used when blue material is present in front of the screen. Otherwise this would also disappear when the blue color is removed. In the digital world, however, the green color is preferred because digital cameras capture more detail in the green channel and it requires less light than blue.
